Does anyone know if the oil pans are different from a 68-69 400 on a firebird to a 74 big car 400? i am rebuilding a 68 400 and found out the inner dipstick tube off the 74 will not work on the 68 b/c the bolts are on the wrong main bearing cap. Can they still be ordered from GM new and are the oil pans the same on the big cars as the firebirds/I.E. is the clearance ok?

I put a 1978 pan on a 1968 350. I used the proper rear gasket for the 1978. It fits.

The last I knew G.M. still had the ineer dipsticks in stock all you need is a part# which if you don't have I can post it for you later.

Thanks, I will need the inner dipstick for a 68 400 and if they have it I could use a new lower tube(the one that goes in the block) Do you have a part # for those?
