Today while removing the rear body bolt ( under passenger seat) The square nut started to spin. I can not seem to get this out. Has anyone ran in to this problem ? PO I think cross threaded this. Is there any way to hold nut? Would heating the nut help? Thanks Steve
You need to get some really good penetrating spray lube. Liquid Wrench makes some good stuff. Beat that cage back into shape and put a C-Clamp on it to keep it from deforming the next time you crank on it. There are other ways of dealing with these if this fails.
heating the nut could help if it really stuck but you have to find a way to make the nut stop turning before. Can you squeeze the side of the cage to make contact with the sqare nut with a vise grip ??? Or may be by putting a flat screw driver beetween the cage and the nut???
Yah. Depending on whether you have a welder or not. Once, when I didn't have a welder handy to tack the nut I drilled a hole in it and pinned it with a punch and then turned the bolt. There are ways to make these guys cooperate...... We have ways of making them talk....oops, that's another episode.
10-4 All good info. After sleeping on it, I was able to get up this morning ( Mem Day ) and use 2 c clamps and cheater bar to get this puppy off. Sub Frame is out and ready for disassembly. Fun Fun !!! Thanks
