I'm having a problem aligning my fender to the door and cowl panel. While I am close I just can't get that perfect fit so I know I'm missing something. My hood is still off so I'm wondering if the weight of the hood will have an effect on the proper fender alignment. Am I right or wrong or what else can I do. Thanks.
Perhaps a little more info on where the alignment issues are would be of help. There are many potential shimming locations and each has a different effect.
How is the door to quarter alignment?

Pix would help, but make sure you first align the door with the rear quarter, then mount fender with all bolts loose, shim the top fender bolt and move to fit. Then I worked the lowest one by the door/wheel well...it took a bit of "rolling" to get it close, then went back up top etc. When I mounted the hood I had to tweak the top bolts a little for the gap. Other than an initial adjustment I did the final on the front when the hood was on.
Thanks for the responses, I'll try to get a picture up tonite. My doors are fine, they have never been off the car so the gap from door to rear quarter is good. I looked at some pics of when I bought car and the fenders lined up real well, so somehow I'm getting hung up somewhere.
You need to 'stretch' them. Get them bolted at the top and then force some shims in at the bottom. It will pull in the middle to conform to the shape of the door and then they will also be taller to line up with the hood. It's a trick that you would never know unless you have done it right before.
