Hey... I should replace the left rear quarter on my 68 conv. Its been pounded out in the trunk and filled. I know i need the trunk extension piece but not sure what else i need as far as inner fender, wheel wells etc,... Also is there any perfered manufacturer or supplier of these parts. Thanks P
Good to have atleast the outerwheel house, trunk drop of panel( attaches to bottom of quaarter behind rear wheel. I've not had a chance to compare panels from the various suppliers but I would bet they all come from the same Ti wan stamping plant with Chan stamping em out.. I've not seen any full convt panels as of yet, Classic keeps saying they are comming but I've heard they will not ever be released because the repaired tooling was crap and the cost to create new tooling is big $$. I did hear Heartbeat city was supposed to be releasing a 67-68 convt panel soon but the cost was going to be very high. I just had mine replaced on my 68 convt and had to use Camaro quarters with the louvers sectioned in. I'll be adding pics of the process to a thread I Started in the bodyshop section (Georgia) in a day or so when I get my cd that contains all my pictures of the process.

Also since it's a convertible it seems many shops like to leave some of the outer wheelhouse that has the convt top bracing attached to it due to alignment (top frame)concerns. The shop that replaced mine butt welded in the old piece to the new outer wheelhouse, it turned out very nice..

I asked the shop to stay away from the louvers as far as they could as well as use the edge of the door jamb to section in but they did it they way they wanted. By using the front edge of the jamb it would have created on less seam for filler. They way it is now there is a tiny bit of metal work that need to be done to make them perfect. Where can I post all 58 pictures of all the work ?
Mike, Thanks for your advice as well as the pictures. Looking forward to see the rest of them.
I have a '67 convertible which is ready for the painter except for the quarter panels. I've waited for Classic Industries for more than 2 years now and have now put my faith in Heartbeat City.
But my patience is running out so I might do the same as you. Can I ask where you got your Camaro panels? I assume they're OK?
The full quarters were OER and they had their share of problems that required a good bit of extra work. When you see the rest of the pictures you will see the gap problems as well as the right side being too long ! But the pictures will show what we had to do to remedy it. The shop said if they ever did any more of these they would use Heartbeat City quarters (Camaro) or wait for the Firebirds to come out..

Ok I've added these pics to Photobucket, there are 58 in all and you have to work backward from 58 to see them in somewhat of an order. Here is the link.
Thank you for taking the time to upload them. From the pics, I can see there was a whole lot of extra work put into the aftermarket quarter panel install.
If you don't mind me asking, what did he wind up charing for the metal work?

The price brakedown is as follows Install L & R quarter panel $1500.00 Section in pair of louvers $300.00 Install outer wheelhouses pair $400.00 Install Trunk Drof offs $250.00 Fab work to to repair long right side and bring gaps into reality was an extra $850.00. Prices were for labor only not including parts. My total with all parts was right at $4200.00
They will not install quarters with out outer wheelhouses or drop offs. A person could go in thinking they could drop their car and quarters off and pick their car up a month later and pay $ 2,000, but it aint gonna happen, they state that the outers and dropoffs need to be replaced because of alignment issues. If a car is comming in for quarters then 9 out of 10 times the outer and the dropoffs will have rust in them anyway and need it.
Am I happy with the work you ask ? yes I think so. I would have liked to see the louver section a little more finished with the front seam at the jamb like I asked for it to be. I think the work is solid and the finished product will turn out well.

The work looks nice. They took time to fix panels where replacement pieces didn't fit, so your project will look great when you get the final blocking and final paint. They did a nice job. You must be very happy to reach this milestone.
