I installed a new Mildon oil pan and noiced this morning that the pan is resting on the cross member by just a little bit.
Can I put an 1/8" flat plate between the metal mount and the rubber (thesame size as the rubber) to lift the motor so the pan doesn't hit anymore? Or is their a thicker motor mount that can accomplish this?
Any suggestions would be great. Thanks in advance.
If you're using the standard replacement engine mounts (made in Taiwan or India), they're crap - rubber is too soft. I purchased mine from Classic, put them on and had to change them after just a few months when the oil pan sat on the cross member and the fan blades were hitting the shroud. I replaced them with a pair of Mity Mounts (sold by Butler, Ames etc), which did the trick.
I don't think it would be to easy to compare pans with the motor in place. I'm going to try shimming the existing mounts and then order the mighty mounts. Thanks for your help.
milodon points this problem out in hpp. you can shim it but i would recommend a better set of mounts. also do you have the correct frame mounts for the car? or r they ohc mounts? the 400 mounts let the engine set further back in the car and give the pan the needed clearance to solve this issue.
