Hello, hope someone out there can help. I'm going to see a 1967 326 HO bird for sale in my area and I'm wondering how to tell if it is a true HO. I know the block has "YM" on it, but is it possible the the block could be from another car? It is a Powerglide on the column, has manual drum brakes, a flat hood (no scoops or tach). I do not have the vin or trim tag info yet. It has the HO stripes but these can be bought anywhere. Just wondering if there is a telltale rule that could tell me if it was real...did they always come with power brakes, for instance...any help would be appreciated!!
From what you have said above the car does sound like the real thing. YM was a code used for HO automatic transmission HO cars. HO's also had a flat hood. Carb would be a Carter #AFB4246S or 48S if it has AC. Heads are #141. Good luck!
