It's looking like the edelbrock 1406 plus the adpter plate for my spread bore manifold is presanting a clearance issue with the hood. I have not yet installed the hood but it seems that I may not have the room. I have 69 350 2bbl converted to a 4bbl....., a 4bbl spreadbore manifold to edelbrock spread bore adpt plate (7/8") with the edel performer 1406 and an edel chrome air cleaner. Anyone know of a lower prfile that can be used without flow issues? Looks like I need to make up for the plate....Dam Plate
I know I could change out the manifold...but....not gonna happen right now.
Take the center bolt out of the carb and try the clay thing to see if you do actually have an issue. If so you can try one of the drop base air cleaners. I don't know who sells them but I've heard about others using them for the same reason.
If you have no clay you can use marshmallows. Sit the marshmallow on the air cleaner with a small piece of tape on top with the sticky side up. If the tape ends up stuck to the hood you know it hit the marshmallow.... Hey, what can I say, use what you have. LOL
I used a loose ball of aluminum foil instead of clay. I can get you a 14" drop base if you need one. Just installed one on mine. Works fine and looks good.
I'm a hobbyist. Not a professional. Don't be hatin'!
Looks like the EDL 1207 air cleaner at summit says it's a 1" drop... is that what your speaking of? I'll check out the clearance with the clay today....
