Cory ,I just put a pf24 ac filter on and put in 15-40 and and can of stp oil treatment in. The oil pressure did come up a bit at idle.I was looking for that but this winter I'll go back to 10-40. Ron

Since I don't drive mine as much, I like 5w-50 Castrol synthetic. The synthetic is a little more consistant in viscosity, so I think the heavier weight is okay and it also has a less tendance to congeal compared to standard oils.
Thanks for the advice, how much oil will the motor hold? Also how much of and what should I put into the 3spd manual and the rear end with posi? Thanks for all the advice, Corey
The make-up of synthetic oil does not resist the sliding friction that results from the cam/follower interface. If you run synthetic - even in a broken in engine - you will eventually be replacing the cam and all 12 followers. And much sooner than you think you should. Run Shell's Rotella-T instead.
And make sure you get the old spec oil, they've changed to CJ-4 for the new diesels and took out most of the good additives. Check back for the appropriate thread on oils for the details.
