Hello All,
I was wondering if anyone has a clue to what this part is. It was lying in the trunk when I bought the car (69 vert). At the time the previous owner said that it was the front license plate bracket, I knew right away that is wasn't but I thought that I'd find out later.
Still don’t know! Any one know or care to ID it?

doesn't look at all familiar to me at least up to a 68! And I've seen em all apart!

I have taken my 69 completly apart and did not have one of those.
Must be from something other than a firebird??

Is it the ashtray housing?

It does resembly a piece of dash that would hold an ashtray but when you see the size fasteners it appears to be an exterior, heavier duty, part. Not used on a 1st gen Firebird. I'm guessing it's a center bumper bracket for something like a GTO or Cutlass.

In addition to not being able to place the part on a 9, those are not period correct nut/speed clips. Seeing that the clips look to be origional with the part, the part can be eliminated from the fgf.

i can guarantee it did not come on a fgf.i have taken alot of them apart

Wait a second! That's the bracket for optional gps/dvd player. I hear tell that those players are bringing good money on eRape.

YAH The one where they mount it under the car to hide it from the show judges.....

Thanks guys, I feel a little better now. Must have been off another vehicle. I'll put it up on the shelf and quit wondering about it (for a while anyway)LOL
