Anyone ever go to this cruise night? I am going tonight to look around. I spoke with a few guys last night in DeBary, FL at a cruise night near our hotel and they say the Old Town cruise sometimes brings in 400-600 cars!!! I'll be there tonight but not with the bird this time, but I will be soon!
Yes. I have made it three different Saturdays this summer. Still no Firebird with me though. I have to look at the two or three which have been there each time.
When I have been there, usually 100 cars. Wish I lived closer as I would go more often.
I went out there once. I thought it was a really nice show, I dont think I saw a single first gen Firebird there. I think it was a really cool place to have a car show too. Ill have to make a road trip one day when my 'bird is all done and most of the bugs are worked out for a long trip.
I'm here now. The Eckler's show is over. They had a 100 f-body cars, there were probably 20 Firebirds all together. Out of the 20 Birds we took 2nd place. They did 9 awards all together, 3 for Camaro stock and 3 for custom Camaro and 3 for all Firebirds. Nice show, lots of door prizes. Nice weather = nice cars and nice, well you can just imagine. Now I am staying for the cruise night. I can not beleive the number of cars that just keep rolling in one after another. It's really a nice cruise!
Yeah, being the geek that I am. LOL We arrived there at 9am and I didn't leave until 9:30pm. Wife and Son abandoned me at 4 so I sat there and surfed a bit. I'll tell you though, they draw a serious crowd, and the cruise/parade at the end is really cool. People sure go nuts over first gen birds, has to be due to the rarity vs. the Camaros. I even had an entire crowd of 1st gen Camaro guys around the bird for almost 45 mins straight at one point. They were all very nice and were very complimentive as well. I wasn't sure what to expect as it was a Camaro/f-body show. I beleive there was only one other first gen there for the morning show, but then a few more did show up for the cruise that night. Neither of the guys were members of this site, but I did boot up the site on the spot and showed them what they were missing...
I had one first gen Camaro guy asked me why I put so much time and money into a Firebird vs. a Camaro. I simply said "look around". LOL Guy shook his head and walked away.
Also, I've owned 5 Camaros in the past and I can say with first hand knowledge, the Firebirds always were and always have been the better of the two hands down...
