I am about to place an order for interior parts. Before I part with about $1,500+, who has dealt with Paddock? How is the quality of their parts?
Year one mentions product flaws in their catalogue, Paddock doesn't.
Any expeiriences are appreciated. I am putting 69 front seats in the car.
Thanks Tom
Also, if i do this project I will be selling all of the "soft" parts of my interior (except rear seat unless someone trades me). Door panels have 7k miles on them (replaced 86). any interest, contact me. Pictures in my homepage.
Paddock does not have the quality of Ames or Performance Years. They do not specialize in one brand or the other and alot of the parts in the Firebird catalog are for camaros and not firebirds. Since the Paddock is only an hour from me, I use them for small parts. I have bought some more expensive parts from them in the past, but have never been satisfied with the quality. Ames is better quality and are much more knowledgable about Pontiac (since that is all they sell). I would not buy any high dollar parts from Paddock.
i have a feeling most of them get parts from the same suppliers. year one mentions the flaws, the others dont mention them, but they are still there. i was happy with the parts i got from paddock, but i cant remember which things i bought. i have dealt with year one, classic, ames, and paddock, and it seems that when one gets a new product, they all do. year one is more expensive, but their cataloge is good to have around to tell you whats imperfect about the parts. the only parts i ever was not satisfied with was when they offered both repo and oem style, and i cheaped out. my rear quarter skins are not 100% correct, but they look good to me. my front valence had to be modified to fit, and the metal is thinner, but it looks good. the only interior parts i have bought are front seat covers, headliner, dome light, and carpet, and i am very happy with them. never cheap out and get repo when you can get oem or oem quality/style. if you can ever get good used parts, get them instead.
Paddock says they have comfort weave. thats why i am thinking of going with them. if they have the repro upholstery, the car goes to an upholsterer for the whole job. i got a sample of comfort weave, so it is available, just not in a kit.
I just put $1,590 on my credit card with Paddock. The woman that took my order assurred me they would drop ship a set of seat covers made of the correct comfort weave upholstery.
I ordered new visors, fender fill, rubber, uphostery, foam, kick panels, rear quarter upholstery, (no door panels or carpet since mine are only 17 years or 4,000 miles old (bought from Classic Industries when they were Classic Camaro).
I am replacing the front seats with 69 seats, and will be selling the old seats and rest of interior. contact me if interested in any of my "junk".
