For the last few days it's been brutally hot in the mid-west. And to top things off the last two days at UPS, we have seen the volume of packages at near record levels for this time of year. And last night due to call offs, I had to work scanning upstairs at the highest point in the building. Needless to say it's the hottest place in the hub. A fan is there, but pointless. It's just blows the hot air around. I almost evaporated to nothing last night.
It's 2:00pm, my thermometer is saying 97° outside and 90° inside. The A/C is on the fritz, but I did go out and get a room A/C unit for the bedroom. And that's where I'm goin'. So I'm signing off to get cooled off.

just be glad you were not here in 47 , in an old 40`s car, no a/c , just 4-40....lol....
It's effecting your thinking Tom. You put this in tech...
but now cool headed Bjorn has moved it to ramblings...
Yes, cool headed always. Reminds me of my early years doing roofs in San Antonio. Always tied a white towel around my head. Cool headed! Hired a guy to help me once. He tied a towel around his head too. He passed out after an hour and a half. Then he quit. I saw him pull the towel off his head and he had one of those 'glad bags' on his head under the towel. No wonder he passed out. Now that's a HOT HEAD!!
mine was here in Houston ,just arrived from Sweden (72F) in june of 69, in July we had 104 a week straight (10 days?) and our apt a/c broke...hot,hot...plus I had my 68 Firebird 350 WITH a/c (ex wife drove it), but my 67 Mustang vert didnt have a/c...going to work in a shirt and tie! ouch!
But I liked Houston heat better than my military service , in Sweden in 63-64 we had the worst winter in 40 yrs.....we slept out in tents...minus 35F....brrrr... promised myself I`d never complain about heat ever...lol
worst was going on guard duty in the 4 ' snow, standing ,looking at stars ,hearing the creaking of the snow, trying NOT to touch clothing anywhere with your body....yuk!
Bjorn, that's the kind of weather we get up here all summer long, you should be here for the COLD months!
"How do you people up in Canada know when to turn?"
"Turn?"
"Yeah, how do you know?"
"Oooh. Well, there's usually a bush or a rock or something nearby and after a while we learn how to take a sighting off that. Sometimes we'll have to just guess if there's nothing close."

Thanks Bjorn! My train of thought got derailed due to the heat. It got just so [censored] hot yesterday I could no longer sit downstairs. The humidity made it unbearable.
The front moved through last night 'bout 7:00 pm with thunderstorms, and after that it started to cool off. It was a welcome relief for everyone in the building last night. And today it will be about ten degrees cooler.
The temps are supposed to clime back up next week, but I don't care. I'm on vacation for the next two weeks! Looks like I'll be getting some repairs done on the 'birds in the overnight hours. Yea!!
you should try living here in sunny south florida tom.
You coasters usually have a breeze with the heat. The most unbearable time I have down south was when I helped a friend move back to Ohio from New Orleans. Temps in the 90’s with humidity at a very high dew point and no breeze. I remember toweling off after a shower only wanting to take another.
I guess you just get use to the climate wherever you are.
I know of Bill but haven't met him in person yet. He’s about 45 minutes SE of Columbus. I have contacted him on several occasions. He mostly has '67-8 parts. Of course it's not much help owning two '69's. Bill has been as helpful as he can, and others speak of him in high regards.
Well you sweat, but being as dry as that it vaporizes instantly. That's one of the reasons dehydration is such a problem. You don't realize how much you're sweating.

OK, I have bought a few parts from him over the years...also visited him a couple of years ago...3? in the summer on my way back from Canada, (where I also visited with David, the mailman)...stayed with Bill and his family over night, had a great dinner out and next morning we met up with Gary Plowman who was driving thru...
