i plan on removing the deluxe door panals on a 69 firebird soon to replace some items. they are original, and afraid to damage them. do i need any special tools, or hints. i remove the screws, then??

I have removed/re-installed deluxe panels on my '68. Don't know about the '69.

9's are the same. Pull the clips that go around the edge of the lower panel out of the holes they snap into. When you have them all loose, then lift then panel up off the door. It makes it easier if you take off the handles too.

so i remove the screw on the carpet, then just pull away from the door?

Roll the window down.
Remove the screws across the bottom, I think there are four.
Inner door handle and the plastic bezel for door handle.
Window crank.
Door lock knob.
Pop the clips loose, making sure you've removed all the screws. Once the panel is free, lift and tilt being careful not to chip the glass or dent the trim at the top. Lift up to free the panel from the glass channel.
