I have a 1967 Firebird with a 400. I have the parts to install the underhood ram air set up but I' m in need of some guidance in cutting the under hood bracing to install the upper pan. I have the factory parts illustrations showing the bracing but it refers to a template. Is there a template out there I could use? If not, how did you guys measure for the cut? I absolutely don't want to make a mistake cutting on the hood. Thank you for any help.
All you really need to do is lay the pan over the hood in correct position, and it will be fairly obvious what needs to be trimmed for it to sit flush. I believe there are two portions of the lower hood frame that needs to be trimmed. I trimmed a little as I went and kept checking for fit as I went.
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not sure. I feel like I am diagonally parked in a parallel universe. 1968 400 convertible (Scarlet) 1976 T/A - 455 LE (No Burt) 1976 T/A New baby, starting full restoration. 1968 350 - 4 speed 'vert - 400 clone (the Beast!) 1968 350 convertible - Wife's car now- 400 clone (Aleutian Blue) (Blue Angel) 2008 Durango - DD 2008 GXP - New one from NH is AWESOME! 2017 Durango Citadel - Modern is nice! I have an original RAM air hood I can take some pics next time I head to the body shop if you want. The ram air pan is off so it would be easy to see how they installed from the factory. Let me know if that would help
anyone have photos of under the hood with the ram air pan on and off? looking for images of the undressed with the cut braces as well as images of the underhodd with the ram air pan installed
