As an update, here is the OHC6 forum: http://pub83.ezboard.com/bsohcsix JEFF PS- Be carefull with the cam followers from Kanter- they are GM units that were machined wrong, and do not have the proper finish (they might have corrected this, though). ------------------ 68 Firebird OHC modified & updated V-8 eater!

Can someone please shed some light on what's going on currently with OHC6 engine rebuild recommendations? Any new sources or old sources that are no longer valid?
Mostly interested in new sources and more importantly the BEST source for '68 OHC SPRINT 4BBL source for engine rebuild. Any advice for actual mechanics for this motor in California too?
Thanks in advance. This is THE BEST site for us old timers who love Sprints. I don't have any money but I'm conjuring up a good trade in exchange for getting my '68 OHC6 SPRINT 4BBL rebuilt.

rebuilding a sprint motor will cost you triple what it will cost to build a 455 all you will find are stock replacemnt parts from the same places that have selled them for years

I am in Southern California. The Sprint OHC engine is one of the greatest engineering feats in automotive history. Anyone who removes a Sprint motor from an original Firebird Sprint and replaces it with something else has committed a crime as far as I'm concerned. Any advice or leads would be appreciated. In my twisted mind I envision trading my '67 400 project car for a complete rebuild of my '68 Sprint motor. I appreciate your help. Here's my '68 Sprint coming out of hibernation if you're interested in seeing it. : https://firstgenfirebird.org/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=251237#Post251237

Go to the OHC forum and search for an article that was put out several years ago on the OHC motor and its rebuild. I would read it several ties before even thinking about talking to a machinist. The article is very detailed and long, but well worth the read.

Thank you! I've already read a lot of it. Yes it's intimidating. I've known for a long time that this isn't your typical rebuild. This document really spells it out. I wonder if the man who wrote it is still around?

However look at it this way. I rebuilt a Sprint back in High School when I had no idea what I was doing. Other than having one ring set in one piston that didn't seat, it went perfect. Put at least 30,000 miles on the car including two trips to Ft. Lauderdale for Spring Break. So, if you read the book and find a decent machine shop, I'm sure you will be OK.

Does anyone know how to get the WebRodder.com article on the OverHead Cam (OHC) engine.. It was an excellent article on steps for doing a rebuild but now it's gone?

I'd like to have a copy, but to get the whole thing is nearly $75. That's steep.
