I have a 68 firebird and read on another post that park lights went off when headlights went on and functioned only as turn signals. OK- Mine stay on all the time so I believe there lies the problem.
1. No short fuse at the bottom was in place when I bought the car.
2. Someone had spliced into the brown and grey wires from the light switch behind the instrument cluster and added a 5 amp fuse marked park lights and dash lights.
3. I reconnected the wires correctly from the light switch and added a fuse- pop goes the fuse when lights turned on. No power to dash lights.
4. See photo of wiring harness and connector that has been cut and two wires connected that went to that connector.
