Before Q tells you , I`ll will....mine was painted bright yellow when I bought it....prev. owner prob. needed some light under there! lol Anyway, I painted mine in place....first used laquer thinner to clean as Vikki also says...used a long brush to get everywhere...then wiped dry w a shop rag... painted using Bill Hirsch engine paint (pontiac blue) w a small long brush (willow twig will do..lol)and it took me about 3 hrs to do the top half...later did same from underneath , when I got to use a lift...theres a spot around the starter you wont get to, but wont really be seen, another tough area is the pulley... the bottom took maybe 1.5 - 2 hrs... I didnt want to pull engine , only had 8K on it then, and ran fine...
if you pull it out , you can probably spray it (use BillHirsch paint)lots easier...and wire brush would help get the paint off when out too... good luck!
