Is a conversion to manual on this car with the 400 motor very costly/difficult?

Conversion to manual trans is not very difficult. Anyone with some mechanical knowledge and ordinary mechanical tools can do it fairly easily. Cost will depend on if you can find good used parts or if all new parts will be needed. If you can find a good donor manual car that you can pull the parts you need from the conversion could be done for as little as $1,000. With all new parts the total could easily go over $3,500.
