While I was under there, I decided to try to see my VIN and check all the other codes. I know it's the original engine (unless it was a service replacement I'm not aware of), but just wanted to check. I can't find the VIN. Do I need to remove the hose from the water pump to get at it? Or is it on the other side of the block? Also I'm confused about the relation between the engine unit number and my protect-o-plate. The engine code is YE, engine unit # 0848165. My protect-o-plate looks like this:

I thought the E.U.N was supposed to be on the protect-o-plate. Any ideas? 69 conv, 350 2bbl.
