400 HO block with windage tray and A/C. Ames says a 3 piece dipstick is used. The previous owner had used a homemade 1 piece copper tube.

I see how the bottom part goes thru the windage tray, but the second piece is not flared to fit the bottom section. I assume the flare it has is for the a/c connection.

Any help to figure this out is appreciated. Here are the pics of what I have.
