Yes, a valve goes in-line there if you are going back to original. The rest of the setup depends on whether you have disc/drums or drum/drums. Likely you have a distribution block up by the master cylinder, along with a small metering block, and then a small distribution valve in-line near the rocker, on the way to the rears.
I very recently upgraded my entire brake system and converted to a hacked up drum/drum to an OEM style disc/drum setup, and in the process I upgraded(?) mine to the more modern 70's "combination valve" that puts all 3 valves into one, mostly for simplification of install and purchase. This also completely changes my brake line configuration so I had to be careful to NOT purchase the "correct" brake lines for my car. This works great for me because on my particular car I do not prioritize originality, but performance. You can go either way, it just depends on what you are looking for with your car and which brake system you have...
