Stocking up for a swap-meet later this month in Decatur i recently bought a project 1968 firebird. I knew it was a car worth restoring. I try not to buy anything that I wouldn't mind restoring. This car needs a ground up restoration, but is a worthy candidate with a wealth of good and unique parts. All of the body and glass is there, it will need body work and the windshield is cracked. The trunk is solid, but the front floors will need the small patch panels. The unique parts that I noticed were: ram air hood w tach cut out, factory a/c, front disc brakes, power windows, burled wood console with a clock, automatic shifter (hurst?), 160mph speedometer, 12 bolt posi rear with 4 leaf springs. The front bumper has two holes in the center for an emblem. Most of you guys know what I have found. I didn't until i started checking into the codes on your site. I am a hobbyist not a professional. I have always loved the 68 firebird, just never came across one. When checking the codes off the firewall I was excited to find that it was originally Autumn Bronze and had a leather interior. It was reupholstered long ago. After reading about the 281 code I had to check and ripped open the 80s red fabric and vinyl and its there. The motor, transmission, a/c box and a lot of little parts are missing, of course someone put air shocks on it. The rear end looks original but I haven't checked it for codes. Well I am at a loss now as to what it might be worth now and if I should hang on to it. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
