My original wire just has the one plug in terminal. The diagrams show the speaker base grounded by the screw to the frame. So originally it would not have the ground jumper unless your 69 is different then my 68. I've not looked into the 69.
I looked back at the diagram and you're right there is a separate ground wire. I went back out to go look and low and behold the ground wire is still there. With all of it hidden up in there I never see it.
