I yanked my electric fan off the front from the previous owner, and instantly saw 10-20 degree difference. I've read a TON of threads on here about temp issues, and about 90% are due to what BigChief mentions. Usually something wrong with the water pump or impeller clearances.
I just rewired my entire car, and found a LOT of stupid stuff, and a bunch of melted wires. If the electric fan is running through the fuse block, take it out, put it on it's own circuit per Chief's advice. There's nothing worse than a dash fire (yup, happened..).
