What do you consider a good price? Last block I sold was a 1973 standard bore 455 block for $600
Yeah, that's reasonable. But Frank wants $1200 for one. He even wants $650 for one that is already .060 over, and needs 8 sleeves. IMO those are ridiculous prices ! Therefore, I will not recommend Frank.
The Spotts site shows 400 blocks for $400, & 455 blocks for $600. But, he's in PA. Probably cost $250-$300 or so to ship.
Len Williams was mentioned. He has the lowest crate engine prices I've seen, and supplies the block. For a CA guy, a Len Williams engine will probably be the cheapest thing he could buy, even with the shipping charges added. But, a lot of guys are afraid to buy long distance, in case a problem should arise. There is a risk involved. The Pontiac guys in AZ can build a good engine, but the price will probably be at least twice the Len Williams price, if not more.
