Three and a half years later I got the accelerator pedal assembly bracket replaced. The E clip went "BING" and flew off to parts unknown so I had to buy another one. At the time I had a partial rotator cup tear so wasn't as agile to reinstall everything until now. I didn't find any washer and the replacement clip seems close so just bolted it back on the fire wall. A 3/8 combo wrench and a 3/8 Gear wrench makes the job easy. I had to do it by feel - no way to get eyes on it.
Thanks for the encouragement. Next, I'll be asking about an odd gap between the tip of the hood and the front bumper assembly.
