I could take it out for a Little spin around the block. I had the battery changed to a 640 CCA and everythign seemed to work fine. The idle was a bit high (1000 rpm), but I did not stop or splutter when getting warm. And after switching the engine off, it immediately started again.
So, the engine was warm, but not really hot. Maybe that's the next step to check.
