Harold, Got some pics of the block and the axle. Block has the matching VIN serial number stamped into it on the front just below and to the left of the water pump return port. The engine unit number on the PHS order sheet matched the other stamp in the block. So the block and body match. The axle stamp reads 9793020 (For 68) with a Julian date of 348. Based on my body ID tag of 04B and the PHS supplied factory order sheet dated March 18 of 68, I put my 348 coded Julian date at Dec 14, 1967, so the axle was assembled three months prior to the build... does that sound right? What other numbers would verify matches? Any idea how I'd check the transmission id? or where the heck that is?
'68 400HO Coupe, 4 spd, 259 interior, Windward Blue. My other car's a Johnson 15 outboard on a '61 Starcraft rowboat... Just sayin'.
