You have freedom of choice to do whatever you want to your car. Having a scoop of some sort the benefit can be negligible and debatable. More important to have adequate clearance for air filter on a street car . Last engine in my car was a 462 with a warrior intake manifold 3 inch carb spacer and a 1050 dominator. I bonded a 3 inch cowl scoop on my flat firebird hood and cut the original hood to clear the air cleaner. It worked just fine.
