Speedball, I had the same thing happen a few years back. Check your driver side motor mount. Mine broke, and when put in drive, it pulled the throttle linkage. It sounds like yours may be doing the same thing. Try prying on the mount to see if there is play. Or maybe check the other side also. Hope this helps.
