Interesting topic! I do not post very often, but I have to share my experience. My car was bought from Troutwine Auto Service, in Arcanum, Ohio.(Zone 9/Dealer # 671) Invoice date of 4/5/67. The dealership is still in existence and under the same name and family ownership. They are located about 50 miles from me. About 3 yrs. ago, I stopped in the dealership and told the salesmen about my car and how it was under a full resto and originally sold by the dealership. I shared all of my pictures and documentation with them. They told me that they have most all of the original documents in storage since the dealership started back in the 30's. I said that it would be cool to look through that someday. They said that I could start looking right then and there! All of their paper documents are stored above the dealership! I spent the next 2.5 hrs. sifting through their ledgers to find my VIN. I did not find the original transaction in 67, but I found where the car was traded back in in 70. So, I was able to find out the original and second owner's names! I plan to take my car this summer back to the dealership to get some photos and possibly find more documents. I have since found a couple of NOS key fobs and some older original license plate frames from the dealership. I think it would be a very interesting story for a magazine....
