what is the main differences in these motors?i was thinking of picking up a 455 olds motor but i want to know what are the differences in these 3 types of cars??thanks a lot for any help.
I can't say as I have the answer for you, but from what I've heard, there is quite a bit.
And from a building standpoint, I assume that since Pontiac parts are not as readily available as say (cheby) that for Old's it would be harder to find performance parts, and even harder for Buick.
The displacement numbers are the same and that's almost were it ends. The starters and transmissions are interchangeable. There could be others, but that's all I know of. A good friend of mine races Olds so I always joke with him about swiping one of his mini-starters. You can make a Olds fast with a small fortune, he is currently running 8.141 @ 163 mph in the quarter. But that's with a well built 425 and a tube chassis car.
thanks for the replies!i knew there was a difference, i just wanted to make sure, i want to keep my car mainly original, but on that same wavelength keep it a pontiac motor, i knew the tranny's were interchangable, but wasnt sure about what else. i think i might keep on trying to look for a pontiac motor, but i guess i will see. if anyone knows any more on this topic, it would be greatly appreciated.
