I just ordered the trunk divider and jute from Ames. How does it attach?

Do you mean the package tray, or fold down seat divider?

The trunk/seat divider. It's not just for the fold down seat....correct?

It's just for the fold down seat. I haven't seen it used for the stationary seat. The stationary seat used a vapor barrier like in the doors. It's a heavy craft paper that's wax or plastic coated.

That is incorrect. Dividers were used in both applications, it's just that they were shaped differently.

I believe it hangs from the hooks that hold up the rear seat back with the jute facing the trunk. Mine was removed from my 1st Gen car when the rear seat cushions were replaced (by the previous owner). The original one was still there on my 2nd Gen T/A

My divider (from Ames) didn't come with provisions for hanging it on the seat hooks. It is actually cut-out around the hooks. The general consensus that I have gotten is to use 4 small sheet metal screws to attach it to the "Y" supports. The car was disassembled when I bought it, but I did find 4 small screw holes in that area, so I am assuming this is how someone else may have attached it.

It's no big deal as the rear seatback will sandwich it anyway, but i just wanted to do it right.

The fold downs have a metal channel, top and bottom, that it fits into. And there's no notch for the hooks. The regular seat cars may have had some sort of glue holding the cardboard in.

Mine(69) originally had a pretty thick, sort of oiled or waxed, cardboard with some cotton(maybe) padding on the backside(facing the trunk). It was glued in place. It did indead fit over the hooks but the glue is what held it in place.

Glue is not a bad idea. I think I will go that route. I have some Loctite headliner glue that works on fabric, foam, and cardboard.
