Received my PHS packet and worth every penny!!! Wish my Impala had this type of info! I can read all of the options my car came with from the factory but it is too blurry to read what each box and label should read on the template. I can't tell which amounts are which nor can tell what dates mean what. Any one have either a clean copy or a template I can read to help decipher mine?
I tried the PHS website, the link to the 69 Trans Am invoice has been removed.
Side Note - Can I tell if this was a special ordered car or a factory car from this factory invoice? Just some odd combinations on this one that wouldn't make sense to me (Push button AM with Tape Stereo and only the deluxe steering wheel, not the deluxe interior)
not sure how we can do this ,but mine is fairly clean... I can read just about everything...at least decifer it...you want to know what? which can you read?
I can always scan mine and send a pdf to your email...?
I think it may be best to try to get a copy of yours if you are willing, will send you mine in trade if you have any interest. I can scan it tonight at home and send it via email (I guess a PM is the best way to trade email address?)
For the $ amounts I can't make out what the last column is supposed to be, I see "Suggested Retail", then "Code", then "Amount", then ???
As for the bottom "squares" I can only read "Suggested Retail Price" and "Hold Back". All the rest is a blur, I can read the actual amounts and the dates but not what they mean.
ok, for the $ amounts, I cannot quite make out the last one either, its a 3 digit , looks like fdm or pdm...
box after hold back is "total car and ad amount" then 'total *** amount' ,cant read mine either , then "destin. amt", then 'invoice amount' under that row its , ?? car? no , date shipped , date of draft, date of execution, identification no,
my email is bsefeldt@mhinc.com , you can email me and I`ll reply with a scan...and , no I dont need yours...
Thanks, I will send you an email from home. Based on the dates, the date shipped and the date of execution for my car is 10/31/1968. A Halloween Car?!?!
if you send an email from home , that means you`ll get my reply tomorrow , since I leave here in about 2 hrs and you are in calif.,...thats fine, its just FYI...I scanned mine so its sitting here ready to send out....
but You can send me an email and in it give me your home email address ,then you`ll have it waiting for you as you get there...
I hear you about the 2 job thing. I've got 2 jobs, 2 kids, and now 2 project cars, anyone have extra time they can spare?
My car was from the LA factory (based on my trim plate, can't seem to find that on the factory invoice). Shipped to Doten Pontiac, Inc. Oakland California. I have the Protect-o-Plate from that dealership to the original owner. From what I can piece together, they moved in 1972 from Oakland to Applegate about 150 miles east in the Sierra Mountains. Car remained up there until @ 2000 (1-2 owners during that time). Must have been a summer car because there is no rust. Crawled under it yesterday to scrape off the tranny tag, it matched as well, so it looks like only the carb (1970 date) is not correct.
I will post my PHS as well if anyone is interested, maybe someone will see something cool/odd that I missed.
lol, 2 jobs here too, work usually until 5 on my regular job ,then switch hats and work on my own jobs...4 kids though...but 'mostly ' gone...34, 32,26 and 22...in 6 mo my youngest graduates from college so Im looking to get a raise!
only one classic now , sold my 68 Triumph GT6 just about a year ago....wow , seems like just yesterday!
I commend you! Mine are just 6 and 4, greatest time spent is with them. Will be coaching both this year on the same T-ball team, think I'll call that job 3. My other classic is a 1959 Impala 2 door hardtop. Bought it when I was 13, finally finished it when I was 21, so much for a high school car!
Vikki - WOW, that is a heavily optioned car! I was able to trace my invoice options to my car, unfortunately now missing my AM radio and the 8 track. I am guessing the square kick panel speakers came with the 8 track (if so they are still there). The only two items I see on my car, not on the PHS are door edge guards and an electric clock (the wiring and clock look original). Was hoping to nail down the axle code "YB" on some sort of documentation but doesn't appear to show up on anything. I read in one of the books that a 2.56 would not have come on a 400 car, but that was refuted on this board.
Axle codes. YB was not applicable to your car. It would have had a 2.78 as mine does, as it is a 400 auto with A/C, unless a special order ratio was selected.
I will try to find my protect-o-plate decode info. Nice 'bird!
If you click my Yellowbird link you'll get a lot of info about your car as well, as they are quite similar beyond the roof.

Thank you, I knew I had a good find when I stumbled on to it, now obsessing on it.
That is the chart I found in one of my books. I knew something didn't add up, I was hoping to see something special ordered. Thanks for spending time on my mystery. I will try to crawl under the car in the morning and get the casting/date codes on the carrier. Also I heard that the axle tubes should have flat spots on the top, where the body bumpers are, will look for that.
Thanks Vikki, I can only hope my bird looks as good as yours someday. I am glad there are people like you helping those of us new to the Firebirds, it is helping tremendously.
My old 'bird is due for restoration too. Last paint was lacquer in 1982. The miracle of modern chemistry (Zaino Bros. car polish) is what makes it look as good as it does. You might want to try a wash, clay bar, and Zaino to buy a little time...
All my document collection came about because I got a certain yellow convertible and wanted to know more about it. Now I have four, and have not attained Firebird nirvana yet. Getting close, though...when the '68 400 4 speed turquoise vert is done I might change my mind.

I think the paint on mine is gone, not so much because it is oxidized, but because it is chipping off (I don't see any prep work done and overspray everywhere). Plus there are unfortunately some newer dents (since painted) in the fenders that the paint is chipping from. The good news is I am working on some bartering for paint and body from a very reputable guy (who just so happens to do his side work in a barn down the street from me). I have been very impressed with the work I've seen.
Also the vinyl top has been removed (turns out to be a good thing, I could see that there was no rust) so I want to get the paint done before the new top.
