Does anyone have an OEM layout for size and location? I searched past threads, but only found something for '68.
thanks,
Craig

They might be the same, I don't know. The tach itself is different than '68, I figured the hole might be different too.
I need to cut the hole and mounting studs into a 326 hood for an OEM tach. So a dimensional layout via sketch (or overlaid on a photo). Maybe dimensions and sizes from the driver's side edge and rear tip of the hood?
Thank you,
Craig

I was under the impression that the holes were in the same location for all three years.... I was under the impression that the hole location varied some with different plants? not sure where I heard it....

Hmmm. This could be true... I know when you buy a tach(aftermarket) that the template that comes with it doesn't make a year or plant distinction. And if it gets moved much from the original position it will hit the vacuum booster on power brake cars.

Funny thing, I´m always posting the same things. Nevertheless it´s not me who created this template, found it anywhere on the web - hope to do justice to the one who made the effort to put this down. I was told it´s correct for early hood tachs (larger style than the later ones)...

Nice template! I'm filing that one. Now, I thought the 68-69 tachs were the same? Is it that there are some early 68's with the tall style?

Don't worry if you have to cut into the reinforcement. It's supposed to go there.

Flowjoe,
That would be great. It wouldn't hurt to confirm the dimensions.
Thanks,
Craig

Craig I just remembered that I had these in my computer already...no measurements but I'll try to get them for you in the next day or so...you can at least see where it sits in relation to the other fixed points on the hood. This came from a '67 coupe (it has the unique '67 only latch and receiver). I held a '69 style tach up to it (repro) and the spacing for the mounting holes is much larger (as one would expect).

1969 Firebird 350 Coupe, Rust free Texas body, formerly brown, now a TA clone with quality spoiler, latching hood and TA wheel; 1969 GTO Convertible Expresso Brown/Parchment(currently painted red). Both numbers matching. My first love was a Cameo White 67 326 Coupe, bought back in 1983, at the age of 17, for $1,200. Been hooked since on PONTIAC! Working on a 67 400 ragtop for customization-Gulf Turquoise/Parchment/400/4 spd! My winter project!
