Maybe this questions has been answered before, But I am restoring the original grills for my 67 bird. Can anyone tell me what colors are original for these? It appears that the outer edges are "charcoal", the main part of the grill looks "black", with "silver" bars running through it. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

I am sure that Banshee did not mean to sound so cold. He's very good at giving "just the facts, maam".
If you get to know him you'll find out that 1) He knows alot about Firebirds, I mean a REAL lot. 2) He's a very nice guy that helps everyone he can.
Why does he initially come across as a big, mean, fire-breathing dragon monster?
Dunno.

You know I was just poking good fun at you. We should all be paying you consultation fees for all the info you have given everyone. :p

I dunno - maybe it won't be a secret poll! Actually, Tom has quite an advantage over us long-winded guys! He has more time to work on his cars when he gets right to the point so quickly! Q

Can't help it....You are asking for it Doug!! You want the short and sweet from Banshee??....or the longer version from the rest of us? I'm sorry guys, this thread has made me giggle all day, and then Doug comes on with a serious question that begs to start the whole process over again! I love this site, have learned much and laughed with folks here too.

Actually (and correct me if I'm wrong here Tom) 67 grills (as I've found so far) are a silver on the outer flat sections, they have a brighter silver ring around the inner grill and the center bar (or under the Chrome hockey sticks on 400's)and the center grill section is a dull black.
On the 68 grills the flat outer sections are a dark charcole, the silver ring and center bar, and the grill section is a dull black.
At least that's whet I've found on as many of the "unrestored" 67's and 68's so far...
