I can't count how many times over the years I've been asked. Had one guy try to sell me a "gold" necklace for $20 for gas. I told him I could tell it was brass! Another time they tried to sell me a quarter machine ring for $20! I'd rather throw change into the intersection for a beggar in a wheelchair!

This last Friday night I got hit up for $10.00. Normally I wouldn't do it but he looked like just a normal guy and was actually shaking when he asked.

I help people out I pick up hitch hikers and have even bought one dinner @ Mcds But I won't give them money for gas I'll give them gas as in their gas can. I'll even stop and change flat tires for people and give jumps. I don't ask for money neither.

Just my mother-in-law. She forgot her checkbook on her way to work and didn't realize it until after she pumped her gas. She called me to go and pay for her gas! I asked her why she didn't keep some cash in her purse. She said she is afraid to haul around that kind of money.

A few weeks ago I was pumping gas in our truck and a young girl came over to me and asked if there was anyway I could spare $10 for gas. She had her car there and it was parked, she told me where she needed to get to etc.
Then she tells me her Dad is in the Navy etc. and she was scared to call him to come & get her etc. I wasn't buying any of it till she mentioned the Navy, my Dad is retired from the Navy so I felt obligated to help the kid out. Oh and did I say what a knock out this kid was?
So anyyway as I am talking to her pumping my gas I look into the truck and I see my wife roll her eyes. LOL So I wasn't going to do it and then my wife hollars out, "you gonna help this kid out or what?" LOL
So she pulled her car over to the pump and I pumped $10 for her. By the time I was done her and my wife were talking like best friends and this kids giving my wife a hug and saying how nice she was for helping her out. I'm thiking, hmmm it was my credit card! LOL
That is the only time I've ever done something like that. Had it been some dude, he'd been SOL... j/j

And like Doug, I help people with flats, jump-starts, push their dead car out of the road,...... One time I was going to my sisters on the weekend and came into a traffic jam on the interstate, after about 10 minutes I get up to what it is. A teenage kids car died in the slow lane and everyone was passing them on both sides so they couldn't get out of the car to push it! I blocked the shoulder next to them so that they could get out and we could push the car. People were passing by us in the grass! Anyways I "got-her-dunn"!

I gave a guy a quick trip hot dog last moth. It was 10pm and I figured if he was holding a sign at that hour he was hungry.
about 10 years ago I was approached at the grocery store by a little cutie asking for food money, I quickly said sure, I'll flip ya a $20 for a (guess)... she couldn't jump in the car quick enough.

Actually I paid the $10.00 bucks inside after I watched him pull up to the pump. When someone asks me for money for food then I usually give them food. I think the guy was shaking because it was late and I'm 6'2" and weigh 280 lbs. I'm scary, ask my kids (just don't ask my wife).

Isn't florida like one of the hotspots though? I mean, year around begging. You don't see much of that going on in WV or new england.

I had a some guy walk up and ask me for five bucks while I was cleaning out my Blazer a few weeks ago. It looked like he would be on his way to the bar if I gave it to him. I just said I don't carry cash anymore. The SW side of Columbus has a variety of income levels, and I've been asked several times for change. But $5? It's usually going to support one addiction or another so I tell'em NO!

I've been known to enjoy a 40 now and then. (Maybe too often) Where do you hang out? Maybe we can become friends? I'm not much into shiners, but on the forth fifth or is that fifth forty, I'll never notice if it's a shiner. What is in that bottle, anyway? I don't recognize the label.
