I bought a set of bumper bolts for my car and thought nothing of it. I tried to install the rear today only to find out the repro kits out there are cr@p. I don't care that they are larger in diameter than the original, but they won't work anyway. The shoulder length on the square part of the carriage bolt is too long. I looked up in the Ames catalog and it is going to cost me $55.00 just for the bolts to hold the bumpers brackets on. They ones that actually hold the bumpers on the car would cost even more! WTF?!

Paper cuts man, just F'en paper cuts.

We all feel your pain. That's the thing, if you want to use the correct parts and make the car look right, you have to be willing to shell out the cash for those correct parts and pieces. This is not a cheap hobby by no means...

This is one of the reasons two things often happen in this hobby. One, people go the cheap route and things come out so so at best or, two, they give up and sell of their project and cut their losses.

That's why I can't understand people balking at 20-30 for a nicely done car, yet they'll drop 3-10k on a car that will take another 20-30 to make it right. I just don't think people realize just how expensive this hooby trully is. Unfortunately thats the way it is now days.

If we had not bought our car when we did, we couldn't be in this hobby today and that's a fact...

I did find a number in the GM parts catalog.
9433489 it is a 3/8 x16 x1
One of the original ones was a 3/8x16x15/16
the other one was 3/8x16 x3/4
Not quite sure about the head material.
But a person can call around and see if any dealer has them
in stk.And have them look.
