It's really sad that some will not be able to share in the glowing glory of this time in the history of our country. They choose to bask in hatred and defeat. There's a wind a blowin', the wind of change. Do not fear it....
Just extending to Hussein the respect and support the left gave Bush after the 2000 election. Face it, Jim, we are a deeply divided country. There are the people who want the gimmie, gimmie, gimmie of socialism and want to punish success and there are the people who believe it its the individual who has self-motivation to succeed and governemt needs to get the heck out of the way.
A 7,000,000 majority in the popular vote should show you we are not divided as much as you would like to think. We are only as divided as you make it. And you, Jim, are a major contributor in the division at the moment.
McCain was not born in America either, but in Panama. Splitting hairs are we?
McCain is not going to be POTUS. McCain was born to two American citizens. McCain provided all required documentation and has been fully vetted and proven eligible. Obama has hidden his birth, medical, adoption, and college records from any scrutiny. If he was foreign born, he is not a natural born citizen due to his mother’s young age. If he was foreign adopted and lost his US citizenship and did not re-apply and pledge US allegiance, he is not a citizen. If he did not legally change his name back from Barry Soetoro, he has filed illegal candidate records and is disqualified.
My point is that we need to know the truth. Doesn’t even the most fervent liberal democrat want to know the truth? Our nation sure needs to know.
A 7,000,000 majority in the popular vote should show you we are not divided as much as you would like to think. We are only as divided as you make it. And you, Jim, are a major contributor in the division at the moment.
It just shows that a majority want the gimmie, gimmie, gimmie.
Again, if you didn't read the Neil Boortz article I posted:
THE "I WANT MY MOMMY" ELECTION
I brought this up several months ago ... a slogan for this election. "I want my mommy." The phrase really says it all. This is not an election where the American voters were looking for someone to protect their freedoms. Instead, it was an election where people were looking for someone to take care of them. Self-sufficiency seems a bit old-fashioned right now. Why work so hard to be self-sufficient when candidates are falling all over themselves to provide the American people with womb-to-tomb or, if you will, cradle-to-grave paternalism. The voters who put Barack Obama into office bear little resemblance to the people who fought for independence 224 years ago. Colonists fighting for our independence actually left their bloody footprints along the icy roads of New York and Pennsylvania while marching to engage the British troops. Today we can't even drum of a decent plurality of voters who will vote for liberty, let alone fight for it.
This has been a "what's in it for me" vote. Are you going to give me health care? Are you going to make sure my job is guaranteed? Are you going to cover my child care costs? You aren't going to make me pay taxes, are you? How about all those evil rich people? Aren't you going to take some of their money away from them and give it to me? After all ... I work for my money, they cheated and stole for theirs. Make them pay their fair share of taxes. Me? I'm tired of paying any share.
Do you honestly think most Politicans get elected to advance the common man? BS! If you'll notice, there's not any poor politicans in Washington, and they all say (repub or Demo) that they'll help the poor and middle class if elected.
But this time just maybe it was the middle class majority saying they think that Obama will actually do it. It's not all about gimme gimme, it's about opportunity. Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day, teach a man to fish and he'll eat for a lifetime.

Jim, you seem to be more po'd than anything. Why? What's the real (rationally stated) reason you don't like the outcome.
Excellent question. I have children and grand children. I fear for them and this nation now. I am a political junkie and have studied both candidates very very extensively. I know Obama. I know him very well. I also know that much is hidden about Obama.
The Obama campaign, with the help of the media, have covered up massive and terrible character issues with Obama. Americans either are too busy or too blind to want to get to know who he is or worse, they don't care. He IS a Marxist. His entire life from birth to today has been infested with communists, terrorists, extremists, Chicago criminals, socialists, racists and anti-Semites. Is it possible to surround yourself, sit at the knee of, study, work with and worship with those kinds of people and be POTUS of the American people?
As I said before, I have accepted and supported the ten Presidents I can recall. I cannot accept a Marxist.
All right, since the election is now safely over, my comrades have allowed me to begin revealing the secret plan, so you may all properly prepare for your assimilation: You are right, on all counts. -Barack HUSSEIN Obama is in fact a foreign citizen beholden to a foreign government. He hates America, white people, and puppies. He eats puppies. -Barack HUSSEIN Obama is actually both a Christian, who does everything the Rev. Wright tells him to do, and a secret Muslim, who takes direct orders from Osama Bin Laden- who in fact, is a distant cousin. (sure glad the Free Republic didn't figure that one out before the election- but its ok to let y'all know now. Don't worry, our new great leader is not conflicted between his two obligations- he will always listen to and follow the instructions of the religious zealot who hates American the most at any given time. -Capitalism is over. Corporations no longer have any influence in Washington, and every Republican in the House and Senate will be arrested and sent to Guantanamo Bay, where they will have to eat chicken and read the Quran every day. -The NRA is gone. Every one of their lobbyists have been removed from Washington, and every one of the 300 million legally owned guns will be confiscated, melted down, and forged into I-Phones, which will be given to minorities in blue states. (the un-real America) -All 62 million of us who planned the proletariat revolution have been working in concert with the secret muslim communists and following their instructions to the letter. -Everything you own now belongs to us- starting with your Firebird. The collective has determined to send it to a Welfare Queen in San Francisco. (so when I say queen I really mean queen). He/she will paint it pink and dance the Lambada on top of it. -Resistance is futile. As we are now a 100% communist country, you may not leave. The borders are now sealed. Kind of ironic- isn't it?- that's what you silly Capitalists have been asking for all along!! You can not escape- You remember all those singing Obama kids? They are now guarding the borders, alongside the Black Panthers, armed with nightsticks.
Welcome to the new world order, and have a nice day.

based on how "they" (because I voted differently) voted in Sweden in the 50`s ,60`s...it was the same thing....'gimme'...everybody wanted more, social deomocrat party promised more and more...."how much can you bribe people"? how many? the whole population... but after a point thers nothing more to "give", or promise... this time Obama supporters 'believe' he is going to give it to them , whatever it means...fairness, more money, more jobs, better health care , whatever...can he deliverall that? not without MASSIVE taxes....then the tide will turn...WTF ,where`s my money? wheres my job? etc...
Ok Jim, I'll buy that. But given we only had the two choices what's done is done. All these questions were addressed at some point along the way. Apparently not answered to everyones satisfaction. I'm not a Political junkie and didn't dwell on every aspect as all I can do is absorb what gets feed by the media, that's the way of our system.
I was worried when W got elected, I was right that in my mind that he would be a disaster for our country. As yet I don't have that feeling about Obama although I have my reservations. McCain-Palin I had issue with as well, but given these were our two choices we have to make the best of the choice that was made.
All we can hope for is for level heads to prevail over time. I think he'll do better than McCain would at restoring our standing internationally, I think the world is tired of "America the bully" The world is indeed getting smaller. Domestically I have my own doubts about his policies but the man isn't an idiot. Neither are most members of Congress (although there are a few in there)

Therein lies one of my greatest fears. The U.S.A. is an INDEPENDENT nation. And has been for more than two centuries. I think it would be good if the world doesn't hate us, but I do not want to see our country genuflect to the UN, the WTO, nations on the nuclear fringe, or any other global special interests.
We are big enough to care for ourselves. We are strong enough to defend our nation (at present). We embrace our freedoms, and our right to enjoy a way of life far in excess of many nations.
But put things in context. Why do we embrace and welcome trade with China, when China does not honor our patents and copyrights? Why do we give billions in federal aid to other nations, when none are willing to step up and help if we have a disaster? Why do we feed the starving, destitute masses, and send billions in medical and food aid, when they continue to have children who die for lack of resources? Why do we fill the role of global strongarm, a role that expected of us, yet we are hated for? Why do we outsource jobs to foreign nations, who pay us no taxes for the money we send them, then send their workforce here to further modify our economy? WHY ARE SO MANY AMERICANS SO [censored] LAZY???? AND GREEDY????
This is the greatest nation in the world and we are on the verge of screwing it up. I only hope that any changes made do not deprive our children and grandchildren of the honor and glory of being an American.

Add this Why to you list. If we are so bad, Why do they all want to come live here?
I don't see Americans as lazy and greedy as a majority. I see them as a proud and selfless group in the fact we do all the things you listed.
And we are not hated by the majority of the world either. A lot of those protest you see are staged for cameras to be broadcast worldwide, because the media and tabloid mentality eats it up like candy. A group of 100 filmed at street level looks like a huge demostration, in reality it's a small staged rally.

All who come here don't necessarily want to stay here. Some come, get what they can, and go back home. Some do stay. And there really aren't that many U.S. citizens who renounce their citizenship. So those are good things...but they are based on the premise of opportunity. Right now opportunity is pretty thin. We've already started seeing a decrease in Mexican laborers who do a lot of the lawn, landscaping, construction, agricultural, and other hard physical labor occupations. There are not that many jobs, and many are moving elsewhere or returning home with their earnings. In theory, that would make job openings for Americans, but it's hard to find people who will work for less than minimum wage and no benefits, especially when a job at a fast food place or grocery store is so much easier, and brings more money.
Pride and selflessness are good in theory, but at the scale we practice it's global welfare. Our nation does not have the resources to feed, clothe, and shelter the world, just look close to home and see how things are here. We have starving, homeless people who live on the streets. "Charity starts at home" is an old saying, and worth remembering.
I don't watch TV journalism. Sensationalistic journalism makes me sick. And I have very little trust of the objectivity of the print media, either. That's one thing that has changed little through the centuries. What I do see is American citizens no longer "untouchable"...instead we are targets of kidnapping, murder, and other crimes in the name of some political or religious faction, and an American target will certainly draw attention.

I certainly agree we should help more at home. That's what our new prez wants to do. But now that someone is addressing doing something about it the republicans are bellyaching about it costing them money.
Kinda hypocritical, don't you think?

I agree with ho428, "most" people arond the world dont hate us...you just 'notice' the ones who do...MOST really like us, they are envious of us ,and as tyou see many want to come here...
its almost as "teenagers are bad"...most are not, but the ones who are ,stand out and get noticed!
I just thought of one good thing that can come out of this...actually a couple.. 1) The Media usually drives everything, like recession, markets, if its written thats its bad it gets bad... so..now when the media is sooo positive to Obama, we might get some positive coverage for awhile, possibly helping the economy, home sales, car sales etc...at least for a 6 period or so.. 2)also, since "we" voted in a black man into office, with majority of the votes for him being white, the "world" can no longer say we are racist....
just overheard TV while out at lunch,...Obama saying that the promises he made, he may not be able to keep those the first year...or maybe not at all....LOL
I heard that this morning on the news, it was from his speech last night which said: "We may not get it done in the first year or even the first term but we will get it done"
The man does know how to talk politics. It was just a political retoric speech they all do after elction day. And just like with Bush, people will hear what they want and interpret the rest.
All I can say is we'd better give the man a chance. First off, we have no choice anymore, second to get out of this funk we're in the country needs to come together. How it all gets done is up to those that got elected or already hold office.
If Obama really wanted to make the country feel better while somewhat spiting the countries that spite us, cut off their aide money and use it for domestic programs.
That would satisfy even Vikki I think

I think you`ll have to ask her hubby about that....
I dont listen to campaigee speeches. Just study thier past voting record.
Obama is the most anti-American candidate elected. Quote;
"It is un-American not to want to pay more taxes"
He has voted for EVERY tax increase.
"I believe only police and military should have guns" "There is no reason for civilians to own them".
He has voted for EVERY anti-gun and ammo measure.
If he studied American history, he doesnt believe in it.
People from Il. claim he has done NOTHING for "The people".
Things to watch for. An attack on the 1st and 2nd amendments. A decrease on some taxes, but higher increase's somewhere else.
A cut off of pre-tax on 401k's. Theres 80 billion there for the gov to take. And dont be suprised if they try to take the whole thing and dump it into social security. There already has been proposals made by his fellow dem's.
Emanuel was so angry at the president's enemies that he stood up at a celebratory dinner with colleagues from the campaign, grabbed a steak knife and began rattling off a list of betrayers, shouting "Dead! . . . Dead! . . . Dead!" and plunging the knife into the table after every name. "When he was done, the table looked like a lunar landscape," one campaign veteran recalls. "It was like something out of The Godfather. But that's Rahm for you." Rolling Stone 10/20/2005

The Trojan horse is within the gates. The enemy is beginning to pile out.
The new Marxist-elect’s Chief of Staff has first hand experience with today’s financial crisis. This is Change?
Rahm Emanuel: Before my election to Congress, I was fortunate to serve as Vice-Chairman of the Chicago Housing Authority and as a Freddie Mac Board member. In those capacities, I saw firsthand the teamwork between public and private entities that’s required to make affordable housing available to hardworking families. When a family is able to build equity in a home, they’ve taken the first step on the road to creating a solid financial foundation. My home city of Chicago has succeeded in developing affordable housing programs because of the commitment of the city government agencies, Mayor Daley's office, private sector entities like Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and many other state and local organizations. http://financialservices.house.gov/media/pdf/030503re.pdf
Absolutely. I sure hope so anyway. If someone doesn't like me because I know so much more than them about their candidate than they do, I think they will eventually come around when buyer's remorse sets in.
I'm not sure I can. I've learned something about someone here I'm not sure I can forgive. While Bjorn may seem like a nice guy on the surface, I don't think I can associate with anyone who puts Buick rims on his Firebird.

I agree! Just kidding! Can't have a family without fights. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, that's what makes us different. I do think some may be disgruntle though.......

ROFL.....at least they are a GM product! = in the family...
Well hello friends. It looks like I'm making a timely return. I spent some time today trying to understand the 'Disgruntly To The Max Republican' syndrome. After some serious thought I know why it occured. This is why; When you listen to hate speech for two years or more, and then you lose a big election because of it, you are left with nothing but a heart filled with hate. You have no way to relieve it. And faced by a president that's face will be a picture of your defeat for 4 years, at least, you are totally overwhelmed. This can be compared to the children of countries that are taught to hate people. They pound the kids with hate speech and also hate literature for years and then they are ready to fight. Ugly, twisted minds full of hate. When you realize that the 'Karl Roves' of the republican party have brainwashed you to hate, then you will be free to enjoy this wonderful country and it's exciting new direction. God Bless America!
