Just woke this one up after a 2 1/2 year nap in the yard. My Sprint 6 (the next project) wanted to touch pavement and thought I'd put up a pic of what happens to laquer paint over 20 years of neglect. Red Firebird Gerry

Hi Brent. Good to meet a fellow Canadian. The Black car that I'm working on now is destined for the paint shop hopefully by the end of April and the red car is going into my shop while it's away. Got a little blemish repair to do and then a fresh coat of red paint to follow.

Gerry, Are you going to go base/clear or enamel? You'll have to send some pics as the paint jobs progress. I love black (my favorite color) but the thought of keeping it scratch free kept me from painting my bird that color. I chose a dark blue flex paint (almost Agenda blue base) that looks black at night but looks blue at dusk and green in direct sunlight. Base coat with 5 coats of clear. It turned out really nice and surprisingly easy to match up to. I just did my hood tach and it turned out excellent. Here is a pic of the car with tach. First time I tried this so I hope it works Brent

Nice colour choice Brent. To late to change colours on the black car as I have pretty much all the inners done in black acrylic enamal. Outside of the car now will be black base/clear with purple pearl. Black wouldn't be my first colour choice but I only have 2 words to contribute... "yes dear"... when it comes to colours here. I wired a buddies new spray booth and he offered to paint the car in return in his new state of the art booth and with his many years of experience, I couldn't say no. The red car I'm going to do myself in acrylic enamal as I just started doing my own painting and still have to learn the in and outs of proper paint techniques. I'm looking forward to it. Just have to watch I don't get any "excessive paint application areas" on my final coat. Gerry PS - Scott it is beyond buffing as the paint is all wrinkled and coming off in large pieces kind of like the early 90s GM's. She's bare metal to epoxy primer to high build primer to shiny red.

Hi guys, I put a few pics on line. The dust in the photos is on my camera lens not the car. I'll have to bring the digital home from work and take better shots when I get a chance. I just finished restoring the trunk and have gutted the interior to get it back in shape. Hopefully my parts come in from Classic in the next few weeks so I can get her back together. It's amazing how just removing the old chrome and worn out rubber makes the car look so much cleaner. You guys have a good one.
