It seems there are two gas filler door versions (with and without finger pull) and wondered if someone can tell us if the finger pull was an option or year specific?
Checked the archives and couldnt find a thing on this.

A word of caution, there actually IS a finger pull on both styles. One where the pull is in the sheet metal, the other where it is in the bird emblem that goes on the door.
My late '67 had the pull in the door and the flat emblem. I thought it was a '67/'68 thing where the '68's had the flat door with the pull emblem.
The FAQ's list the door for '68 with the finger lift emblem early and then back to the lift in the sheet metal later.
Somebody else probably has this nailed down for sure.

We have the flat door type but wasnt sure if it for our car (was in a garbage can of loose parts). So it sounds like the emblems for 67 were different than 68 and the sheet metal pull was specific to early 67's?

I always thought the sheet metal moulded finger pull was '67, and the flat sheet metal with bird emblem pull was '68.
That is the only way I have ever seen them, but it may be incorrect.

Well I kinda thought the same until I saw this listing: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1968-1969...sQ5fAccessoriesMade me question the flat door we have. We dont have the 68 emblem yet (on it's way) so didnt realize it had a pull built into it. Sounds like we have the right filler door for our car

More research (using a search) suggests that the pull emblem is indeed a '68 change that was "undone" sometime in the '68 model year where they reverted back to the '67 style. The time frame of the reversion back to the pull on the sheet metal is apparently a "Firebird Mystery".
I would not say the sheet metal pull is "early" '67 item as my car was a June '67 build and it was in a new "Spring" color of Verdoro Green.
If you found a flat door, it sounds like it might be the correct one for your car. Just make sure you get the correct emblem with the pull.
