I picked up a Chiltons when I first got my bird. It's essentially worthless. Go on e-bay and pick up a repro 67 Pontiac service manual for less than $50 and the Firebird supplement for $15. You'll be glad you did. Or use the on line 68 manual at the above link.
i like my chiltons manual for my bird. it helped teach me how to work on cars. i wore it out and bought another.
i have chiltons and haynes for other cars, and the one for my bird is the best of them. no wiring diagrams though, and the factory manuals do have a lot more info and pictures.
Are you refering to the Pep Boy's Chilton? I don't know much about Chilton's other than it's there, and there may be a difference between the shade tree issue and the professional issue. Also, I cannot say yea/nay on Chiltion's becaue I worked from GM Service Manuals, and Mitchell's Collision.
In addition to my 69 Pontiac Service Manual, I have a 1970 Motor's Manual.
