Reading the thread "Worst car you ever owned" made me think back of all the cars I have had. My first car was a 1966 Chevelle given to me by my parents. It was a six cylinder, 4door that needed all kinds of work but ran and drove. It had holes in the floor boards and all. I had it for less than a year before I smashed into a guy coming out of his driveway without him looking before exiting. I screamed at the guy mostly because I was grounded and not supposed to have the car out.  Turned out he was my teacher the next year in school. Found out he worked at the school when the car wouldn't start and I needed to get it home. He reluctantly help me hot wire the car and actually turned out to be a very cool teacher.

easy answer- look at my signature tag- bought it in 1981 for $2195 when I was 17. I still owe my Mom for some of the payments.....

70 Impala Conv. 350. Loved it. Had a new white top and dark green metalic paint & new tires were all done before I even drove her. Bought the car in 1984 and drove it my last two years of HS. Paid $600 for the car, $200 for the top, $150 tires and $1000 for a complete paint. Saved for the car, bought it, had the work done and paid for one full year of ins. right off the bat all with money earned from paper route and working at a local pizza place. LOL

1970 Ford LTD. Bought it from my brother for $200.
Rebuilt, repainted, restored and sold a year later for $700 so I could buy my second car.... 1968 Firebird. Purchased for $600.
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not sure. 1970 Mustang Fastback for $700 in 1977. A tad light on options except for the 351 Cleveland 4-bbl under the hood and an auto tranny. Tennis ball sized intake ports on those rare heads. Never got more than 5 K miles out of a set of rear tires.
Unfortunately it was a bondo bucket under the paint. I spent all my loose change fixing it up and finally sold it in 1985 to a guy in the Air Force.
My 06 Mustang is my 1st car reincarated.

71 Gran Prix $300.00 in 79 had lots of fun in that car and I learned about drinking and driving good thing for that iron we are all still here. really liked that car

65 MGB, never ran. 2nd car was 70 LeMans Sport, that got ne started on Pontiacs. I got arrested for reckless driving in that car, was the only sober guy in the holding tank.

First car I (and my older bro.) purchased was a 67 Firebird 326HO, 4spd., A/C, P/S all the for $2,100.00 in 1984. We were the third owner. That was the second car my brother purchased, his first was a 68 w/670 heads. Only reason I can remember was trying to find a long branch manifold for it after he hit the R/R tracks to hard/fast it had short exhaust that turned out in front of the wheels and a 7" snorkle hood scoop, couldn't see the right front for crap! I was ruint after that, he bought that one for $1,500.00!!
I'd rather see a rust bucket on the road, than a
garage queen anytime!!

First car was a 1965 Mustang. When I tried to sell it, the paperwork didn't match the VIN. Somehow the title slip from the DMV had a freakin' asterisk (one of these: ' * ') in place of one of the numbers on the VIN. Not the last one, but one about 2/3 the way through it. The VIN was xxxxxxx...784 but the title said xxxxxxx...*84. Even the [censored] junkyard wouldn't take the car - after I drove it into the ground. (Heck, I was 15 when I bought it!)
I used it for cutting torch practice and put it into the weekly garbage 50 Lbs. at a time. I kept the gas cap.

We did this before but with so many new members I guess it needs to be done periodically. Plus, what the heck else would we talk about?  First car at 16 years old, 1968 Firebird, bought in 1976 for $1200. 350, 3 speed. Picture is circa 1976, Aluminum slots and all. Even installed an 8 track. Same car 33 years later. RA-V block 428, M-22, 4:11 12 bolt, Rally II's. No 8 track 
Wanting a Custom fit in an off the rack world. I don't have time for a job, I just need the money.

First own car...brand new 1963 Mini Cooper....was 6500 Skr in Sweden , about $1200+-...drove the heck out of it...wore out three sets of front tires, while rears still loked new (wonder why? , maybe because it was FWD? lol)...owned 2.5 years ,sold to get the 1965 Fiat 1500 convertible...

68 firebird 400/400auto dark green with black roof
mild build, tried driving through a pickup truck
one friday night I lost. truck turned in front of me.
While it was seating in the intersection fresh from the
frist accident and VW broadsided my bird, cop was so
pissed off with the kid in the VW, he made him pay me
cash for the damage so he wouldn't have to do any more
paper work. bought it in 1977 for $800.00

LOL Not my first car, but I had a 72 Impala convertible(Impaler), 350, same color combo, white and dark green. Bought it off an old guy in 87, had sat in his garage for 5 years had only 64,000 miles on it. Even had the mint tonneau (boot) cover. Bought it for $1,800, drove it for another 60,000 miles (adding only fresh paint) and sold it for $3800. That car sure flew on the highway, top down... My first tho was a 67 GMC van (flat windshield). Had a staight 6 3 speed in it, I quickly pulled it and put in a 283 auto, the usual van interior, and slotted mags/Mickey Thompson tires LOL....never could keep that thing cool with that V8 stuffed in the middle. Ended up leaving it in Klamath Falls Oregon leaking oil out of every possible seal after a trip to San Diego with the boys...

The 1967 Firebird in my signature. I bought it from my Uncle for $1,200 in 1988. He bought it January of '68. Prior to that it was the Dealer's wife's car but had not been titled.

I had a 1980 BMW 520 as a first car, in 1993 I think... I was 16 and not allowed to drive untill 18, LOL This one, but then in red:   I loved that car.. Sold after a year though, after a kid neighbour (who DID have a driving license) crashed it.. B@st@rd, spent all summer restoring the damage...

First vehicle, 1954 Chevrolet 1/2 ton truck which I still have. First and only Firebird, 1969 convertible which I also still have. I'm presently at an all-time high for number of vehicles owned at the same time at 15. Gotta sell some!

My first was a 1964 Bonneville convertible. Royal blue with white leather interior. It looked like an eggplant. I bought it for $10.00 from someone who was going to junk it because the brakes had failed. Turned out to be a front brake hose that cost $3.00 to replace. Wish I had that one back.

1975 Ford LTD Landau with a 460. It was the mother of all land yachts. I blew that engine and had to pawn my drumset to buy a 429 to replace it.
Got my drumset back and ended up selling the car a couple of years later.

My first car was a 77 Chevy Monza Spyder with a 305V8 2bbl turbo 250 that I bought for $400 in '93. It had a spoiler and sunroof. I have a lot of good memories with that car. A good friend of mine's sister had it, then the friend, then my cousin before I had it. I cruised Main Street with them. We did race a lot off the stoplights. That car was quick and it beat many of the bigger engine cars. But then again that car weighed 1800 lbs against the 3500+lb cars. That car was beat on by the previous owners and kept going. It started up great in the winter in below freezing temperature without being plugged in or started for a few days. I got in my first accident in that car from my own stupidity. I had more than a few drinks, speeding down a grated gravel road, and the back end got loose. I oversteered it, did at least three spins, and clipped the front end. That was a wild ride. Lucky I didn't roll it. I ended up trading the car and got a $400 trade-in value for it. Here's a pic of it after the accident:  It's seen better days. That's not me in it, that was my ex. The first car I drove was my mom's 73 Pontiac Catalina 400V8. If I remember right, it was green with the white top.

Isn't this the infamous car/engine combo where you had to either lift or jack up the engine to change the spark plugs? LOL Yeah, I think it was. I don't remember changing the spark plugs. I think my cousin had replaced them before I bought it and I only had the car for 1 1/2 to 2 years. I remember changing the oil and replacing the fuel pump & filter. Crazy idea having to jack up the car to change a spark plug.
