Hello,

I need help finding a set of spider gears whether it be online, by catalog, etc. for my Firebird. I have a 10 bolt BOP (8.2, I guess?) with 2.78:1 ratio. The gears look okay but there is some play/chatter in the spider gears.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Mark

There was a set available under Pontiac Drivetrain parts at Frank's Pontiac Parts.

I may have a spare set from an open rear.

Thanks for the help, guys!

Yellowbird, if you did happen to have a spare set, how much would you take for them? Also, could you please let me know what condition they are in.

I contacted Frank's Pontiac Parts and talked with a gentleman for quite some time. He informed me that they have numerous sets of spider gears in stock, but since they are used I don't know if they would be in any better condition than the set I currently have.

Thanks again!

I'd say the same about mine. They came out of a running, drivable car that I rebuilt the entire rear axle end to end. They are original parts, and I am open to reasonable offers as they are surplus parts that I'll likely not have a need for nor can I guarantee any condition other than that they have no broken teeth, gouges, or anything to indicate they are junk.

If I left them bagged in lube they should still be good. I just have to think about what tub they are in.

Thanks Yellowbird! If you can find them and they are still in "good" shape I may be interested. I do not want to offend you with an offer as I really have no idea what they are worth.

I appreciate your time looking for them. If you happen to find them let me know what you think of them.

These are out of a BOP, 10 bolt, 8.2, correct?

They are out of a '68 Firebird BOP 8.2 10 bolt with 2.56 open.

Yellow,

I just checked my axle tube and found the XD stamp. To be sure, I rolled around my ring gear and found 41 14, which does confirm I have 2.93's. Would your spider gears work with my ring and pinion?

Sorry for all the questions.........

As yours is also a 2 pinion open diff, they should work.
