Well I have not been on here in a very very long time... The last time I was I think I talked to a guy and he went to look at my car and then we lost touch... but that was a long time ago. I have been in and out of the country too much and still dont know what to do with my old Firebird. Dont really know if I want it anymore. I know this is just a bunch of words and it is 5am here in San Deigo... I cant sleep anyway. I need to order the PHR docs for my car a guy said he had them and was going to send them to me but that was a long time ago. I have been busy with other cars... now dont flame me but I also have a mopar Abody and a Toyota Supra Twin Turbo. Been thru some other cars but I have kept these 3 for awhile now...

I feel like my Firebird has sat too long away from me and I cant find a reason to make it mine again. This is hard cause I am a car guy but I feel like the work wont make me want it like I used to... maybe its time to part with the bird huh?

1967 firebird A.I.R. 400 or California-emissions Firebird 400 four-speed hardtop. It also came with dual factory traction bars or safe-T- track rear axle, 10 bolt posi, front power disc brakes, PS, a Muncie 4 speed, Console, Dual exhaust, dual horns, and Soft Ray Glass windshield. Red on Red car... and a hood tach, rally gauge cluster... Maybe for sale??? Its sitting in MO and I am now in CA. Anyone want to haul it my way? PM me.

1220 of them were “(WU)” 400 A.I.R. 4 barrel manual transmissions. (Engine codes in parenthesis are for cars built with AIR Injector Exhaust Control, code 616. This was an emissions reduction modification performed on the heads. They were cast with an air injection passage to reduce emissions. They were installed on Firebirds manufactured for sale in California only).

It has a 24 339 code for the dealer on it from PHS... It was from Peninsula Pontiac, 2909 Pacific Coast Highway, Torrence, CA 90505

Mine has been parked 12 years now.Always seems like the money i need to finish it must go elsewhere.I was really hoping to finish it this year as i just turned 40 and wanted that for a birthday present but no such luck. I am keeping the faith however that one day soon i will be able to finish her.

I would get a ride in a nice bird and see if that changes your mind about getting ridding of it. If not, it's probably best to let it go and have someone else be happy with it. Best wishes to you and good luck on your decision.

It's hard to put much into anything if you can't make time to give 100%. If your interests have changed, let it go.

I dont think my interests have changed... I still own muscle cars... just looking at getting a 69 GTO judge right now... and got done with a 69 camaro... and the 67 firebird 400 4speed has been sitting and waiting... on top off all that I did a Eclipse for a friend and then been working on my Supra TT... and the bird just sits... I think its just so far away that I dont see it as mine... its a toss up how bad I want this car... I dont have kids but I would like to do it and give it to one of my sisters kids... in the am I am putting a new built 904 auto trans into my mopar. I am 28 and just getting old on it.... I like the 69 camaro and found another one I want to do up ... just dont know... I should get the firebird done...

I only own 3 cars with the bird being one of them... just have feelings about it... I had the car back in highschool...

In what shape is the Bird? Is it far away from being finished, in time and money that it it needs? Got any pics??

If you have the luxury of not needing the money or the space, hold on to it, especially if you have an emotional connection to this particular car, or you'll regret selling it somewhere down the line. On the other hand, if you don't do anything with it, and feel no connection to the car, let it go...

Would like to see some pics!

BTW: you must have liked the Toyomaro article in Hot ROd magazine, did you see it? It had a 750 BHP Supra TT engine in a 69 Camaro...

I have heard of so many people missing their high school car. Either they sold it or it was wrecked backed then. Like Wouter said, if space and money is not the issue I would hang on to it as long as it's not rusting away. As you get older, you might change you mind and get a second wind to restoring it. Once it's gone, it's gone. You can always sell it later if you still feel the same way.

I didn't see the article but I heard about that. I think someone did that to a FGF too. A guy who is into Toyotas said why don't I put a Supra engine in the bird. Sorry, no way. I just can't see putting a foreign engine into an old American muscle car. I like the Pontiac engine too much anyways. I do like some Toyotas. I drove my ex's Toyota Celica at one time. It had a stick and it was fun to drive. A good daily driver that's good on gas. It's going to be my daughter's car now.

If you don't feel you would enjoy, really enjoy, restoring it either make sure it's in good dry storage and mothball it, or let it go. If the car is important to you keep it, as giving it to a relative means that you would witness any abuses done to it after your careful restoration and if the relative should crash it you'd probably bear some of the "blame". If anything, let the sweat equity and investment come from the sister's kid, then there should be more respect for the car. Maybe.

It sounds like other cars have your deeper interest. If you have the luxury of indulging all your interests, more power to you. If you are keeping it only because it was your high school car, how important is that to you? If not for that, would you still keep the car? Sentimentality can be expensive. If you have some particular memories that only that car can fill, then do right by it and make sure it's properly stored until you decide what you want to do.

Allthough controversial, and pissing off a lot of (mostly American (lol)) people, the Toyomaro does pull a lot of muscle! 1030 BHP, and man, check that acceleration in the video on the website:

http://evsmotors.com/

The noise isn't bad I think, when you realise theres a Toyota engine in there. Off course there belongs a V8 in there, but the engineering is quite impressive!

In the current issue of Hot Rod (the toyomaro was in the one before) there are a lot of reactions, rnaging from "DISGUSTING! SHAMEFULL!" to "BRILLIANT! RESPECTFULL!". Funny, these mixed emotions this cars brings in people...

yeah I saw that one... I have an extra 2jz-gte as well lol... I would not do that swap tho... a buddy just did his motor but still needs his heads he wants.. its more a money issue with him... he is putting 520rwhp down off the block ... and soon a little boost lol...

I dont regret things... in the end its just a car. The only thing thats of any value in it is the people inside.

With GM killing the Pontiac side of itself last week I am thinking about how the Firebird's value will go up...

I will post pix later on... I dont see why someone wants to see them but ok I guess I need to take new ones just dont really have time these days... I am also looking at a few homes.

good point... I had a few cars in highschool but this is the one I was known for... hell it pulls the front tires off the ground in 1st gear... that was a big thing when you were a kid... now it just a showoff thing lol

I feel like its rusting away in my mind... I just want other things as well... I am looking at a 70 cuda right now... might pick that up. If I do what do I do with my Bird? see what I mean... I dont know if I can scrach the extra cash to get the cuda though.

We all like to see any pic of any Bird any time! Seeing the car would be helpfull in advising you what to do, which is what you're asking advice in.. If it looks like this:

Or like this:

it's quite a different story.

Sounds like money is not quite the issue for you. I would presonally keep it then (which is what I'm doing with my car)... What is it that you do for a living? Is it car related? You sounds like somebody who likes cars.. Whatever it is, fortunately it's not something effected by the crisis as far as I can tell, LOL!

You've got a luxury problem, no money or storage issue, just not doing anything with your car now. I'm afraid not a lot of people here pity you! Times can change, in a few years, or decades, you might think back on the ol'bird, regretting you ever let it go...

Prices are low now anyways, I don't think the price of an FGF will go up now that Pontiac is gone, since FGF's are not being built anymore anyway. But the prices will go up in the comming years. Prices have been going down for the last 2 years. It's a buyers market now, not a sellers market. I wouldn't sell if I didn't have to..

Personally, I'd say the pro's outweigh the con's at the moment. It's not really costing you much to hang on to it. You can start planning a few different way on how you might do the car up?

You could do a wicked suspension & drivetrain (sounds like it pulls hard as it is) maybe ad a 6-speed and leave the shell as is for that sleeper/daily driver look. You could go all out and real make it trick inside and out, you could go back to stock and have fun hunting down some kool NOS stuff to add to the car...

It's all about the vision, the plan and getting it to that point.
You are in a great position with a killer platform for something very unique and different. You have a solid higher end bird with desirable options and the know how to pull it all together anyway you see fit. Why not start doing a little research and see what direction you might want to take it if you were to do it up right? See if you can get that spark back...

Besides, this is not exactly the best time to be selling... you may get a fair price for her, but by the time you get some more work done on her, the market may be better and the car may be more sought after... give it some time... work on that spark!

Brett - 67 Drop Top 455! (wishing I had many of the cars I've sold)

Gotta have something to do all day. Work keeps trying to sneak into my free time.

We got 9" of snow the other day and I broke my shovel and ran out of rock salt.

No, Buffalo Wild Wings 2 for 1 wings special is Tuesdays. They do have $3.25 Bud Light though.

Speaking of having 67's and not knowing what to do with them ... I got rid of my '69 'Vert and I'm now on the lookout for a '68 shell. I want the shell only! Not a complete car! I have all the other pieces I need to put one together. I'll take a 67, but then it has to have some doors, too.

And, no, I'd rather not get one that has too much rust for someone else to deal with. Although ... for what I have in mind it may not be a big deal.

Coupe! Not a convertible.
