I have a repop 400 hood on my '67 bird. I have read conflicting reports about the hood latches. Some have said that you need a '68 hood latch, while others have said that you have to use a '67 latch. Can anyone verify what the correct latch to use is?

Okay, I should have used the search function first! I found out that the receiver is different on the hoods - flatter on 67, more angled on 68 & 69. I will have to look at the car tomorrow to see what I have. If the latch does work (opens and closes) properly would it be safe to use even if the latch/receiver is not mated properly?

I believe all repops are '68-'69 style, not '67.
If you have a '67 assembly, you will need to swap it out for a 8 or 9 assy. (unless a PO already did it)

Well, something finally worked out for me! Looking at the hood today it is indeed a '67 model repop, most likely from D&R from what I have read on the performance years forums. There is a thread on their forums that shows a hood from a '67 and a '68. The '67 receiver has less of an angle than the 68 & 69 hoods. I also made sure and I do have the '67 latch, so everything turned out okay!

You can get the repop hoods both ways, but most vendors don't know what they sell. From what I've read, the '67 catch will work with '67-69 latches, but a '68-69 hood catch won't work with a '67 latch unless you do some grinding.

My repop 400 hood for my '69 would not close without some modifying. Thought it was just an adjustment thing.
