My throttle linkage does not reach my kickdown switch by almost 1 1/4 inch. Why would this happen and what can be done to increase the travel of the linkage? I am fairly certain the switch and bracket are in the right place as they fit perfectly into the quadajet.
Any help would be great!!

When you pedal is fully depress(have someone do that for you),look down the primary throttle bore. If the throttle plates are at or about 90 degrees than that is it. If not, you either have too much slack in the throttle cable or the stop for the primary is misadjusted. Or...you may have a carburetor with linkage that wasn't used with a kickdown set-up, they are different.

Get the numbers off the carburetor and do a search and find the application for that carb. Also, I believe if the last number is odd, than more than likely it was made for a manual transmission, but not always.

Did you check to see if your throttle was opening all the way? I have some problems with my kickdown as well, you've probably read my post. Before I had the problem in my post it didn't work at all. Turns out my throttle wasn't opening all the way. What I read is that its quite common for the pedal linkage to bend from people mashing it to the floor for almost 40 years. Or it hits carpet or floor mats. My pedal was hitting the floor before the throttle opened all the way. A quick bend to the pedal linkage under the dash fixed that. May not be your problem but its quick to check withsome help.

The part that the pedal attaches to inside the car. Did you check yet to see if your carb is opening up all the way? If it is bending the pedal won't help any. In my case the actual pedal was hitting the floor before the carb was all the way open, and before the linkage engaged the kick down switch. If you look under the dash the pedal attaches to a piece of round rod, and you can see how this could get bent over time.

OK, as I talked with Jeff and he know this, I am posting.
I checked my primaries and the were not opening to 90 degrees at full throttle. I adjusted the linkage so it hits the Kickdown and opens the primaries to 90 degrees. Real nice. It also returns nicely to idle. HOWEVER, when I punch it from a stop OR punch it from anywhere it falls FLAT! Would it be that I screwed up the mixture by introducing more fuel at full throttle. I HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO ADJUST THE MIXTURE. ANY IDEAS!!

The "bog" could be a bad accelerator pump on the carb.
