Hi, I am looking for my old car to do a father and son project. I do not have the vin but here is what i have. 1967 firebird 400 with hood tach and it was a 4 speed. when it was sold in the late 80's to a kid and his uncle (car was in St James at the time) it had a fresh Black paint job,SBC 350 with aluminum heads, holley 650 dbl pumper, Turbo 400 (clutch pedel was taken out),and emron black paint in the engine compartment. The fenders where the firebird emblem were brazed in,but the 400 was still on the hood and the chrome on the quarter panel fins were missing. Will pay a finders fee. ANY INFO please e-mail or call me THANKS.949-795-1933 or LIGHTNLC@AOL.COM
Needle in a haystack without the VIN. Could even be a lost cause if the car was wrecked.
2012 Mustang Boss 302 #1918, Competition Orange. FGF replacement 2006 Mustang V6 Pony, Vista Blue. Factory ordered. 2019 BMW X3 (Titled to the wife, but I'm always driving it for her. So I'm claiming it) Old projects, gone but not forgotten: 1967 FB 400, original CA car. After 22 years of work, trashed by the guy who was supposed to paint it. I had to sell it. 1980 Turbo Trans Am 1970 Mustang fastback, 351C 4Bbl, auto 1988 Mustang GT, 5 speed 1983 F-150 4x4, built 302 1994 Chevy K2500 HD 4x4, 454 TBI
I want it to be the same car and i know it's a stretch to find it but i have about 8 months to find it. I am trying to find any info with vin or plate but it's tuff.
You could try Papa John's way of locating his old Z-28
But most of us aren't in a position to offer a monster reward like that.

If it was ever regestered in your name. Go to your local DMV with your local DL for that state that it was regestered in. You can pay a small fee and they will pull up by your name and DL every car that has ever been regestered to you. I dont know the fee amount. I dont know how many days it will take that DMV. I have done this in 2 different states. This information is on file for some number of years. You can get the VIN from the DMV.
Good Luck.
1967 firebird A.I.R. 400 or California-emissions Firebird 400 four-speed hardtop. It also came with dual factory traction bars or safe-T- track rear axle, 10 bolt posi, front power disc brakes, PS, a Muncie 4 speed, Console, Dual exhaust, dual horns, and Soft Ray Glass windshield. Red on Red car... and a hood tach, rally gauge cluster... Maybe for sale??? Its sitting in MO and I am now in CA. Anyone want to haul it my way? PM me.
1220 of them were “(WU)” 400 A.I.R. 4 barrel manual transmissions. (Engine codes in parenthesis are for cars built with AIR Injector Exhaust Control, code 616. This was an emissions reduction modification performed on the heads. They were cast with an air injection passage to reduce emissions. They were installed on Firebirds manufactured for sale in California only).
It has a 24 339 code for the dealer on it from PHS... It was from Peninsula Pontiac, 2909 Pacific Coast Highway, Torrence, CA 90505
I got a project car . It's a 1967 Firebird set up for the dragstrip. It had a 455 HO engine but the engine blew a rod. I removed the engine and had it completely rebuilt by a GM Whiz. It was bored 30 over making it a 468 Cubic inch engine. My car has a hood tact, and is a beautiful car, I am selling it with or without engine and trans.(400 Turbo). There is no way I would drive that car, too powerful for this ole man. Interested? Edmon Ph: 251-609-7776
Even with a VIN# its still near impossible to find, after 1981 vin system went to a standard 13 number anything prior to that has no record. I have been searching for my 77 ford truck for several years with no luck. I have called several state dmv's and most only keep records for 3-9 years depending on state and no title search company can search for a pre 1981 title. These are just my findings after several years of searching. Try searching the national craig list and making alot of phone calls after you do get your VIN#. I call at least 5 or 6 per week to compare numbers

Jerry, I contacted the Insurance Bureau of Canada to verify a 68 VIN # was not currently registered anywhere. They have access to a system that includes all of NA. They assign or reassign VIN's in Canada (old or new format).
PM the VIN to me and I will call them to see if they have it on file, then try to get some info on it or have them send the owner a letter from yourself.

Figured I'd update what has happened since the post, I bought and did a ground up restoration. On a 69 Camaro SS,factory 4 speed car with 17 options and cloned it to a Z 28 for my son. The car came out great, so I continued for 4 years looking for my old bird and decided this month it was never going to be found so I bought a PHS documented 67 400 auto that I will clone to my original car ( leaving it an automatic) that I pick up this Saturday . Thanks for any help and advice you guys had.
