The Bottom half of spoiler and pedestals. The got the top half done late last night. I should have the top and bottom trimmed and bonded together later today.

I have an after-market '69 TA spoiler on my '68. It looks good, as advertised, but its about a 1/2 inch too long, and a 1/2 inch too high! Pisses me off everytime I look at it!

To clarify, I was referring to the TA spoiler he is working on, not the hood.

I have a 67 bird. Tomorrow I am going to make a fiberglass 69 T/A wing, Then section and modify it to not overhang the quarters of my 67 bird. I will then make a mold from it. I should have a carbon fiber wing to fit 67-68's ready in about 2 weeks

Sounds good. You'll have to hack off almost an inch in total length, and reduce the height by about a half inch to get it to look tight. Just enough of a gap to allow for some custom padding when you slam the trunk down too hard.

I'm thinking of taking a circle saw to mine next weekend, just to see what I can do!!

The pedestal's need to stay where they are so, I will need to section some out of the outer side of each pedestal. So far on my 69 Bird the ends of the wing are about 1/2 " from contact with the quarters. I can make this tighter for you if you like. The factory style foam rubber for the wing tips will fit just right on my wings, as the ends are an exact copy of the factory spoiler with the injection molding holes too!

These parts are very rigid, I can't push down hard enough to make contact with the quarter. I can stand on the center my hood with one leg and bounce, it hardly moves at all, maybe 1/8'- 1/4', I am 165lbs. I think I could stand on the wing too, but have not tried yet.

Let us know how the project goes. Anyone out there recently bought an after-market TA spoiler for their 67 or 68, and had a good fit?

What are the specs on the carbon weave, which type are you using?

What are the specs on the hood? I haven't seen any details about the assembly yet.

John, Just out of curiosity how much does that hood weigh?

I just got the hood and side scoops with the final coats of automotive clear coat. The wing should be all done by Monday. The hood weighs somewhere between 25 and 30lbs. I have not weighed it lately, but the last time I did it was 23lbs. Since then I have added about 2-3lbs of aluminum bar stock for the hinge mounts and a lot of clear.

I should be able to keep the next one under 20lbs. But I can make you a skin that weighs less the 10lbs

Being a purist to some degree, this is not something that would interest me. However, I went through the entire thread on the other site and I must say your craftsmenship and perserverence is admirable!

purist or not the cost is way way below an original that would cost you more than 8-10,000$ easily!! ive seen a hacked up one sell for 7500$. once there painted you wont know the difference!!!!

Ill be honest, I think the 69 T/A hoods look really tough and just scream muscle. But I think the scoops and wing look odd. (Im not talking about the ones youre making, Im talking about all of them in general). I had a pair of fiberglass scoops on my 69 vert and sold them because I didnt like the looks of them.

But the amount of time, energy and craftmanship spent to make these is amazing. I salute anyone who can fabricate that well!

Is this one your showing made from an original one,???.. For some reason, and it might be just the angle of the pic. but, for some reason the scoops out in the front look odd.. to wide from front to back.. is the scoop openings the same size as the originals,??.. also,, what does it take to paint,, just scuff n shoot,???.

The mold is made from an original hood,all dimensions are correct. Scoop opening sizes are the same. I have made the scoop inserts a better fit than the factory. You could paint over the clear just like any other paint job, but if you want one to paint I will sell it cheaper with no clear, just raw carbon surface or primed. call for pricing. 612-226-6115

Or better yet, the lower close out(400 - A/C) baffles. The fiberglass ones are crap.
Thier to small and the mounting holes are in wrong location.

About the earlier spoiler question. The 69 TA spoiler is different from the one on the market for the 67-68. I bought one for my 69 and the company shipped me the 67-68 one instead. I went to put it on and couldn't figure out why it didn't fit correctly. The 69 rear end is slightly wider, so the 67-68 one won't work and vice versa.
