On the advise of some people om this forum I contacted Cliff at Cliff's High Performance. Since he lives about 90 minutes I drove down there this morning. All I can say is WOW. He showed me where the linkage prevents the secondaries from opening and he adjusted them to allow a full range of operation. He then proceeded to rebuild pretty much the entire carb while I watched. Cliff really knows the Quadrajet and is a super nice man. He tells me he has a backlogof quadrjets for about 6 months and by the amount of carbs there I can believe it. Anyways the linkage, and thr entire carb for that matter, have been redone.

Are you referring to the little restricting tab on the linkage that allows it only to open 3/4 of the way? I recall I put some tape on the tab to allow the secondaries to open all the way, what did Cliff do?

Theres an article in the recent Muscle Car Review magazine that goes through Qjet teardown and rebuild. One of the main points in that article was the binding of linkages, shaft, etc and how to correct it.
